About us

Lowestoft Arts Centre is a not-for-profit co-operative, run on a voluntary basis by and for its membership.

It was set up by Carolyn Reeder in 2000, to encourage and promote the visual arts in the Lowestoft area.

Over the years we have become the focal point for local artists and craftspeople of all abilities, whether amateur or professional, experienced or beginners.

If you are interested in joining us, please see the Membership section below.

The centre also has studio spaces available to hire by individuals and small groups – for arts and craft activities, meetings and tuition.

The gallery and shop display a large and varied range of work by our members – all local artists and craftspeople.

You are welcome to call in, have a browse and – if you wish – have a chat to the artist who is the gallery steward that day.

Our opening hours are below.

Wheelchair access is available to the front of the gallery, and stairlift access to the studios.

We look forward to seeing you!

We are a voluntary co-operative. Every member has a say in how the centre is run, and everyone’s contribution is valued.

If you join us, you will be able to display your work for sale in the gallery.

You will also be encouraged to volunteer as a steward, which helps to keep the gallery and shop open.

Join us!

We welcome enquiries from any active, local artist or craftsperson who is interested in becoming a member of the arts centre.

Membership is £12 a year (as at April 2025), which you can pay by cash, cheque or card when you bring in your completed application form.

Click here to download and print the application form as a PDF, which includes information about use of the gallery space, commission and charges.
